Jim Anderson

James “Jim” Charles Anderson, 69, died on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home in Cedar Falls. Jim was born on March 31, 1955, in Cedar Falls, IA, the son of Carl and Gloria (Larsen) Anderson. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1974. On May 10, 1986, he was united in marriage to Linda Coffman at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Jim worked in the Energy Services Department at Cedar Falls Utilities for 44 years until his retirement in February 2017. He was an avid sports fan, with a special love for cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Above all, he cherished his family and close friends, always putting them first. Jim delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, often playfully teasing them, and looked forward to his annual trips to Florida with Linda each winter. In his earlier years Jim was passionate about helping children learn and played a key role in facilitating “Safety City” for Kindergarteners in Cedar Falls. He also dedicated his time to refereeing high school basketball games. He could be found working on projects around the house, Jim ensured his yard was always green and well-maintained. He never met a stranger, and he enjoyed simple pleasures, such as morning donuts and watching The Andy Griffith Show. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Josh and Jason (Amanda) Anderson, both of Janesville, and Katie (Kyle) Corson of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Jillian Anderson and AJ Bynum, Lane and Lydia Anderson, Aceton and Elle Corson; brothers, Gary (Pam) Anderson of Leawood, KS, and Tom Anderson of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Anderson; daughter-in-law, Laura Anderson; and two brothers-in-law, Ron and Doug Coffman. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his beloved family, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. A gathering of family and friends will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. A private family funeral will take place on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
