Robert Sachau Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bob was born August 27, 1921, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Dan and Elsie (Hayes) Sachau. He graduated from Port Byron High School in 1939 and then attended the University of Illinois. He went on to serve his Country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. On November 2, 1943, he was united in marriage to Virginia D. Wiley. He was employed with the John Deere Company in Moline, IL and later the Joliet Arsenal. Robert moved to Waterloo in 1963 and worked as a manager for Chamberlain Manufacturing until his retirement in 1983. He had been active in the Boy Scouts, the Senior Center, and the Audubon Society. Bob was a talented woodworker and avid birdwatcher. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia of Waterloo; a daughter, Cindy of Waterloo; two sons, Rev. Larry (Renee) Sachau of Oklahoma City, OK and Dr. Daniel (Beth) Sachau of Mankato, MN; four grandchildren, Christina Dunneman of Raleigh, NC, Scott Sachau of Oklahoma City and Johnathan and Madeline Sachau, both of Mankato, MN and great grandson, Chrystian Dunneman of Raleigh, NC. Bob died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
