David W Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dave was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School Class of 1969. He passed November 17, 2020. Dave was born in Marshalltown and raised in Cedar Falls. He was a second generation 42 year Professional truck driver. Dave served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam conflict as a weapons Maintenance Tech. He returned to Cedar Falls and later moved to Holiday Lake, Brooklyn, Iowa for many years until relocating to Canandaigua, NY and Zephyrhills, Florida after retirement. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marjorie Smith and sister Sandra Christie, all of Cedar Falls. He is survived by his wife, Diane of Canandaigua, NY; 4 children, Jeremy (David) of Portland, OR, Lianne Allen and Tammy (Ted) Kaminski of Western NY, and Kimberly Kirk of Kingman AZ.; sisters Deborah (Bob) Lee and Lynda (Dwayne) Svoboda, Cedar Falls; and brother JD (Brenda) of Traer. David was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. David was a much loved person by all that knew him. He was most loyal and loving and did not hesitate to help family, friends and strangers. He will be remembered by many as someone who created fun and made everyone feel special. Memorial service 3:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021 at Richardson Funeral Service. Family will receive friends from 2:30 until service time.
