Myron "Bud" Chapman

August 10, 1944 - January 18, 2022

Myron (Bud) C. Chapman passed away Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at home after a brief illness. His wife and dear friends were with him. He will be missed by many and will live in our hearts forever. Bud was born August 10, 1944 in Elkader, IA, to Myron K. and Jennie Marie (Garity) Chapman. He grew up in Elgin and West Union. Moving to Cedar Falls in 1966. He worked at John Deere for over 32 years, retiring in 1998. He also worked at Hy-Vee for several years. Bud was united in marriage to Barbara L. (Janssen) Johnson January 1, 1997. Bud enjoyed going to the Stock Car Races, stained glass, building rocking horses, helping his friends with many projects over the years. He was always looking for ways to bring laughter to almost any situation. Dancing with grooms at wedding dances, flying kites with everyone, adding cow bells to trailers. bubbles in the warmer weather. Setting up kiddie pools for his wife and granddaughter in the driveway. Working on his many different vehicles, making sure they were always clean. Bud was a fan of the Chicago Bears and loved NASCAR. Bud is survived by his wife of 25 years. His daughters Shawn (Michael) Murdoch and Jaime Michelle. Grandchildren Zach Gilfillan, Emily Beaubien, Robert (Allison) Viets. Great grandson Rudson Viets. Step children Jae Johnson and Nicholas Johnson. Step grandchildren Charis Crozier and Declan Johnson. Bud was preceded in death by both parents, brother Ronald Bradford Chapman and nephew Kaman Chapman. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Cedar Valley Hospice for all their help during this time.
