Doris Denning Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris was born on March 2, 1920, the daughter of Martin and Olive (Woodiwiss) Havig in Osage, Iowa. She graduated from Osage High School in 1938. She was married to Vernon Brunner and they divorced in 1939. Then on June 24, 1950, she married William Denning in Nashua, Iowa. She was employed with Marr Knitting Mill (Fox River Mill) in Osage. Then she was employed with the Cedar Falls Community food service at Holmes Junior High. Doris is survived by her husband, William; two sons, Michael (Sharon) Brunner of Ft. Dodge, IA, Richard (Gloria) Brunner of Toeterville, IA; one daughter, LuAnn Dempsey of Old Town, Florida; three step-daughters, Vicki (Tom) Phelan of St. Louis, Missouri, Cynthia (Guy) Sorensen of Glouchester, Virgina, Julie (Rich) Driscoll of Evansdale, IA; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marlin Havig of Osage, IA, Wayland Havig of Davenport, IA, and one sister, Marquerite Tosel of Mason City, IA. Doris died on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at her home in Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Allena Gardner and Gloria Bucknell. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, with a 7:30 P.M. public Happy Thought Rebekah Lodge #256 memorial service. A memorial has been established.
