Jean Seavey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean was born June 12, 1926, in Parkersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Sweer and Nellie (Abbas) Hovenga. She married Kenneth Ferrell and were later divorced. She then married Carlton Seavey January 5, 1953, in Luverne, MN. She worked at Rath Packing Co. in the 1940's and 50's prior to becoming a homemaker. Jean is survived by her husband, Carlton of Cedar Falls; daughters, Karen (Marvin) Petersen and Bonnie (Randy) Duvel, both of Cedar Falls, Kathy Benson of Tucson, AZ and Barb (Dan) Noel; son, Leslie (Ann) Seavey of Cedar Falls; eleven grandchildren, Steven Petersen, Amy Shater, Jenny Miller, Sarah and Laura Duvel, Heather and Kim Seavey, Tim, Jason, and Christi Benson and Brandon Noel; five great grandchildren; Lily and Hana Miller, Elizabeth Shatek, Isaiah Moore and Joselyn Benson; sisters, Evelyn Kramer of Allison, Marlys (Ray) Reams of Waterloo, Lillian Hinders of Evansdale and Ruth (Paul) Hinders of Clarksville and brothers, Harm (Mary) Hovenga of Johnston City, IL and Dale and Bob Hovenga, both of Clarksville. Jean died Monday, November 17, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Clarence Hovenga and sister, Joyce Kramer.
