June Green

With profound sorrow and cherished memories, we announce the passing of June Louise Bigelow Green, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend who left this world peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 25, 2025. June was born on April 25, 1936, in Moran, Kansas, to Jess and Olive (Cubbison) Bigelow. She was one of seven children: Dean, Melva, Wanda, Larry, Karen, and Bonnie. Her early years were marked by the values of family and community that would stay with her throughout her life. On September 4, 1954, June married the love of her life, Elton Green, in the town of her birth, Moran. In a testament to her commitment to her family's welfare, June stayed home to raise three daughters. She enjoyed growing vegetables and beautiful flower beds. Later, she dedicated herself to managing the surgical offices of doctors Neil Williams, Robert Savereide, and Neil McMahon. June was involved in numerous organizations that enriched her life and those around her. As a devoted member of PEO, she held every elected position. She found joy at Nazareth Lutheran Church, where her faith and compassion shone through her volunteer work and Circle group. Part of her legacy will be her countless hours of volunteering for Sartori Hospital and Meals on Wheels, bringing comfort and nourishment to those in need. June believed a small act of kindness could shine a beacon of hope in someone else's life. June's love extended most deeply to her family, and she is survived by her loving husband, Elton, and her three daughters, Betty Witt (Ken), Margaret Tarr, and Susan Glissman (Todd). Grandchildren David Witt, Jessica Tarr, John Tarr (Mikaela), Elizabeth (Witt) May (Hawk), Alex Glissman (Christina), Emily Glissman, and Zach Glissman (Madeline). Great-grandchildren Travis Witt, Michael Witt, Emerson Tarr, Callahan Tarr, Margaret May, and baby boy May. Sisters Wanda Sell, Karen Fritchey, and Bonnie Weast. Many nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Dean Bigelow, Melva Bigelow Lincicome, Larry Bigelow, and sister-in-law Virginia Green Hassenflu. As we remember June, we are reminded of her beautiful laughter, tireless dedication to her family and community, and genuine care for everyone she encountered. June will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy shines in the hearts she touched, and she leaves behind a world that is undeniably better for having known her. Family and friends are invited to her celebration of life. At Nazareth Lutheran Church on April 19, 2025, at 11:00 am in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Donations may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice, Nazareth Lutheran Church, or Cottey College instead of flowers.
