Lloyd Berry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lloyd was born August 24, 1933, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Cleon W. and Norma (Carpenter) Berry. He served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He then went on and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI). On June 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Shirley K. Simpson at Linden Ave. United Methodist Church in Waterloo. He taught and coached baseball high school in Winthrop, then was an agent for AAA Insurance in Waterloo and also worked for Exceptional Persons for 15 years. He served as treasurer for Urban Ministry and the Sertoma Club, was former Parrish Visitor, Sunday School Teacher and active with the Rainbow Task Force at 1st United Methodist Church, active with Habitat for Humanity and Gideons, served as a Cub Scout Leader, delivered for Community Meals and drove for both the R.T. Commission and the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Shirley of Cedar Falls; son, Mark J. (Kimberly) of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Diane R. (Kent) Prescott of Waverly and Denise L. Berry of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, Joanna, David, Joseph and Rebecca Berry and Jordan, Keri, Mason, Cole and Emmalia Prescott; sister, Mary (Glenn) Wassom of Des Moines; and brother, Ray O. (Judith) Berry of Bennington, VT. Lloyd died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial has been established
