Rose Gallagher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rose was born November 13, 1919, in New Underwood, SD, the daughter of Emmanuel and Anna Marie (Glaser) Buchohlz. On June 20, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lloyd William Gallagher in Yankton, SD. He died August 6, 1997. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Schoitz Hospital from 1960-1965 and then was in sales at Younker at College Square mall from 1970 until her retirement in 1985. Rose was an excellent cook, who made especially delicious pies, a gracious hostess, a cheerful and good-hearted woman. The Salvation Army was an important part of her life. She was a Corps Cadet Guardian and played piano and directed the choir for the Salvation Army from 1970-1985. Rose is survived by three sons, Robert W. Gallagher of Beloit, WI, Richard E. (Donna) Gallagher of Cicero, IN and Warren M. (Diane) Gallagher of East Dubuque, IL; four daughters, Deanna R. (Bill) Kropp of Savannah, MO, Sandra L. (Jeff) Fitting of Polson, MT, Jeanne M. McNab of Thousand Oaks, CA and Linda L. (Gary) Hanus of Cedar Falls; fifteen grandchildren; thirty seven great grand-children; thirteen great great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Jean) Glaser of Sioux Falls, SD and sister, Viola (Warren) Jensen of Beloit, WI. Rose died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the Waverly Health Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Janet Lee Gallagher; brother, Harold Glaser; and three sisters, Goldie Rapp, Ruth Isaackson and Bernice Rolley.
